INDYCAR Takes Another Weekend Off Before Stretch Run Begins in Portland

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES has another weekend off before returning to action Aug. 9 for the OnlyBulls Grand Prix of Portland at Portland International Raceway. The series has now gone nearly three weeks between races following Alex Palou’s victory at Nashville Superspeedway, which was postponed to Monday because of rain.

When the green flag drops in Portland, the championship battle will enter its final six-race stretch. Palou leads the standings with 457 points, followed by David Malukas, Kyle Kirkwood, Christian Lundgaard and Pato O’Ward as the title fight begins to tighten heading toward the season finale.

Portland also kicks off a busy finish to the schedule. Following the road course in Oregon, the series heads to Markham, a Milwaukee doubleheader and the season-ending weekend at Laguna Seca.

While the off weekend gives teams valuable time to regroup, it also leaves fans waiting another week before one of motorsports’ most competitive championship battles resumes.
