Sheldon Creed is officially on top of the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series championship standings.
After finishing second in Saturday night’s Nu Way 225 at World Wide Technology Raceway, Creed moved into the points lead as the Chase continues to heat up.
Creed Keeps The Momentum Rolling
Creed entered the Gateway weekend coming off a huge victory at Darlington, where he won the Chase opener and moved to within seven points of Justin Allgaier.
That victory gave Creed momentum heading into the second playoff race, and he backed it up with another strong performance.
Starting third at Gateway, Creed stayed near the front throughout the night and ultimately finished runner-up to Jesse Love. The result marked his 18th top-10 finish of the season and gave him another critical result in the championship battle.
The Championship Battle Is Getting Crazy
Creed’s rise to the top comes at the perfect time.
With the O’Reilly Series Chase underway, every position matters. Creed has now put together a win and a runner-up finish in the first two playoff races, giving him one of the strongest starts of any championship contender.
The No. 00 Haas Factory Team Chevrolet has been consistently competitive all season, and Creed is now showing that he can turn that consistency into championship momentum.

The regular season may have belonged to Justin Allgaier, but the postseason is quickly becoming Creed’s championship campaign.
Two races into the Chase, Creed has taken over the points lead and established himself as the driver everyone else has to chase.
With the championship battle tightening every week, Sheldon Creed is officially the man to beat.
