Kyle Larson’s hopes of winning the Brickyard 400 come to a crushing end after a blown left-rear tire sent the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet hard into the outside wall in Turn 3 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Larson was running inside the top five and in contention when the tire failure caused him to lose control entering the corner. His car spun and slammed the wall, bringing out the caution and dealing a major blow to one of the race favorites.
The crash marks another heartbreaking setback for Larson at one of NASCAR’s crown jewel events. After showing race-winning speed throughout the afternoon, a mechanical failure ultimately ended any chance of competing for the victory.
With Larson out of contention, the battle for the Brickyard 400 win takes a dramatic turn as the remaining contenders look to capitalize on one of the biggest moments of the race.
