Dodge Is Finally Returning to NASCAR, and It Is Awesome for the Sport

Popular

NASCAR fans have been waiting years for another manufacturer to join the Cup Series, and the wait is finally over. Dodge officially announced its return to NASCAR for the 2027 season, partnering with Kaulig Racing to bring two Dodge Chargers back to the sport’s highest level.

This is absolutely awesome news for NASCAR. Dodge has a long history in stock car racing, and seeing the manufacturer return after leaving following the 2012 season is something longtime fans should be incredibly excited about.

A Fourth Manufacturer Changes Everything

Dodge’s return means NASCAR will once again have four manufacturers competing in the Cup Series, joining Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota. That is a major development for a sport that has been looking to bring another automaker into the competition for years.

Dodge will work with Kaulig Racing, which will field two Charger based entries in 2027. The organization has already been working with Stellantis through its Ram Craftsman Truck Series program, giving the partnership a foundation heading into this new challenge.

The last time Dodge competed in the Cup Series, Brad Keselowski won the 2012 championship behind the wheel of the famous No. 2 Dodge Charger. Now, the manufacturer has an opportunity to create another memorable chapter.

NASCAR Fans Have Plenty to Be Excited About

One of the coolest parts of this announcement is the possibility of seeing Dodge compete against its old rivals again. The Chevrolet versus Ford rivalry is already a major part of NASCAR, but adding Dodge back into the mix makes things even better.

There is also the excitement surrounding the upcoming car reveal. Dodge plans to show off its new NASCAR Charger on December 4 at the Snowball Derby.

The return is scheduled to begin with the 2027 Daytona 500, giving fans something special to look forward to when the new season begins.

Dodge returning to NASCAR is bigger than simply adding another car to the starting lineup. It brings back history, competition and another iconic name to the sport. NASCAR is better when manufacturers are fighting for victories, and having Dodge back is something fans should celebrate.
