What’s Next for Nolan Siegel? Young IndyCar Driver Still Has Plenty of Time on His Side
Nolan Siegel’s time at Arrow McLaren may be coming to an end, but don’t mistake that for the end of his IndyCar career.
Far from it.
Reports earlier this month indicated Arrow McLaren informed Siegel he will not return to the team in 2027, ending a tenure that never quite produced the results expected from one of the series’ premier organizations.
At first glance, it’s easy to see why.
Siegel entered the season under pressure after Arrow McLaren team principal Tony Kanaan publicly acknowledged the expectation was for the 21-year-old to contend for a top-10 finish in the championship. Instead, Siegel sits outside that mark with flashes of speed but inconsistent results.
But context matters.
Siegel is still only 21 years old.
He has fewer than 50 IndyCar starts.
And despite the headlines, he has shown measurable improvement throughout 2026, recording multiple top-10 finishes and becoming a more consistent presence near the front half of the field.
Sometimes, that’s all another team needs to see.
Not every talented IndyCar driver develops on the same timeline. Alex Palou didn’t become a championship favorite overnight. David Malukas needed time. Kyle Kirkwood found another level only after changing organizations.
Siegel could follow a similar path.
The biggest question isn’t whether he belongs in IndyCar.
It’s where he’ll land.
A move to a smaller organization could ultimately benefit both sides, allowing Siegel to continue developing without the week-to-week expectations that come with driving for one of the series’ powerhouse teams. Teams searching for a young driver with upside will almost certainly give him a long look this offseason.
Arrow McLaren appears ready to move in a different direction.
That doesn’t mean Nolan Siegel’s future is bleak.
It simply means his next opportunity may be the one that defines his career.
Many successful IndyCar drivers have needed a reset before finding their footing.
At just 21 years old, Siegel still has plenty of time to write his story.
