Carson Hocevar might be the best thing to happen to NASCAR in years.
And that is exactly why half the garage probably wants to throw him into Lake Darlington.
The 23-year-old Spire Motorsports driver has officially entered full NASCAR menace mode, and Sunday night at Darlington was basically his villain origin story.
Hocevar got into Brad Keselowski and sent the former Cup Series champion spinning.
Keselowski was not amused.
“His day’s coming and it’s coming hard,” Keselowski warned.
Hocevar’s response?
“Yeah, he spun.”
That is it.
No 14-minute apology. No “I need to look at the replay.” No carefully crafted PR statement.
Yeah, he spun.
This dude is either completely fearless or operating with a level of confidence that should probably be studied by scientists.
And here’s the hilarious part: Hocevar isn’t some random backmarker anymore.
He won Talladega earlier this year, made his first Chase and finished 11th at Darlington after starting 34th.
He’s legitimately fast.
He’s legitimately talented.
And he is absolutely not interested in making friends.
NASCAR desperately needs personalities.
