Max Verstappen Sends Blunt Message About a Potential Ferrari Move

Popular

Max Verstappen has made one thing very clear when it comes to his future in Formula 1: winning matters more than the name on the car.

Verstappen was asked about the possibility of one day driving for Ferrari, one of the most iconic teams in the history of the sport.

While the four-time world champion has plenty of respect for Ferrari and what the team represents, he made it clear that the prestige of the brand alone would not be enough to convince him to make a move.

“I only want to win, I’m not a nostalgic type,” Verstappen said.

“Do I have a lot of respect for the Ferrari brand? Absolutely.”

That respect, however, does not mean Verstappen would automatically want to drive for Ferrari.

He pointed to the competitive side of the decision, making it clear that joining Ferrari would only make sense if he believed he could fight for wins rather than simply become part of the team because of its history.

“But if that means you commit yourself and are driving in P5 or P6, what’s the point?” Verstappen said.

The comments are particularly interesting because Ferrari remains one of the biggest names in Formula 1, and driving for the Scuderia has long been viewed as one of the sport’s most prestigious opportunities.

For Verstappen, though, the badge doesn’t appear to be enough.

His career has been built around winning championships, and after becoming one of the dominant drivers of the modern F1 era, it makes sense that competitive performance would be a major factor in any decision about his future.

That doesn’t mean Verstappen is ruling out Ferrari.

He didn’t announce a decision or confirm that a move is being discussed.

Instead, his comments simply explain what would matter to him if that opportunity ever became realistic.

If Ferrari could provide a car capable of competing at the front, the conversation would obviously look very different.

But if the team were only fighting for fifth or sixth place, Verstappen doesn’t appear interested in making a move simply because of the Ferrari name.

For one of Formula 1’s biggest stars, the message is pretty simple.

History matters. Prestige matters. But winning matters most.
