Frankie Muniz has added a major achievement to his racing career, capturing his first professional motorsports championship after a dramatic season finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The actor best known for starring in Malcolm in the Middle secured the 2026 Pirelli GT4 America Am class championship alongside co driver Tyler Stone. The pair finished second in class during Sunday’s finale, doing enough to claim the championship by 19 points over their closest competitors.

Muniz and Stone Deliver When It Matters

Driving the No. 30 TechSport Racing Ford Mustang GT4, Muniz and Stone entered the Indianapolis finale leading the championship standings. However, the title was far from guaranteed, with the No. 36 BMW of James Clay and James Walker Jr. still in contention.

The battle came down to the final race, where Muniz and Stone needed a strong result to secure the championship.

Muniz played a crucial role during the second half of the 60-minute contest. After the team’s pit stop, he worked his way through the field, passing Walker Jr. with 17 minutes remaining before moving into second place five minutes later.

That charge helped secure the title and capped off a season of steady progress for the TechSport Racing team.

A Breakthrough Season for Muniz

The championship represents a significant milestone for Muniz, who has worked for years to establish himself as a serious competitor in motorsports.

Although many fans know him from his acting career, Muniz has increasingly dedicated himself to racing. He competed in the ARCA Menards Series in 2023 before moving into NASCAR’s national series, including the Craftsman Truck Series.

His 2026 schedule has required him to balance full time NASCAR competition with his GT4 America campaign alongside Stone.

The sports car season delivered several important moments. The No. 30 Mustang GT4 finished second at Sonoma Raceway, swept its class at Road America and earned another victory at Barber Motorsports Park. Those results helped the team build the points advantage it carried into Indianapolis.

NASCAR Remains on Muniz’s Mind

While winning the GT4 America championship is a career-defining accomplishment, Muniz has made it clear that he still has goals in NASCAR.

His Truck Series campaign has presented a different challenge, with the actor-turned-driver continuing to work toward stronger results against experienced stock-car competitors.

The GT4 title proves that Muniz’s racing ambitions extend beyond simply participating. He and Stone delivered results throughout the season and held their nerve when the championship was on the line.

For Muniz, the championship is a reward for years of work and a new milestone in his motorsports journey. After balancing two racing programs in 2026, he now has his first championship trophy to show for it.

The former television star has officially added another title to his résumé and he has shown that his racing career is about much more than his Hollywood past.
