Corey Day Gets Massive Contract Extension With Hendrick Motorsports

Popular

Corey Day’s NASCAR future just got a whole lot brighter.

Hendrick Motorsports has signed the 20 year-old driver to a long-term contract extension, keeping one of NASCAR’s most promising young stars within the organization. The new deal will see Day continue competing full-time in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series while also giving him the opportunity to make select Cup Series starts in 2027.

For Day, this is a massive opportunity.

Hendrick Believes In Day

Day has quickly made an impression since joining Hendrick Motorsports.

After making 11 O’Reilly Series starts in 2025, Hendrick gave him a full-time opportunity in 2026. He immediately showed why the organization believed in him, winning at Talladega and Dover while establishing himself as one of the series’ top young drivers. NASCAR currently has Day fifth in the championship standings with two wins and 16 top-10 finishes.

Now, Hendrick is doubling down on that investment.

The organization clearly sees Day as more than just a developmental driver. The opportunity to compete in selected Cup races next season could be the beginning of his path toward NASCAR’s top level.

A Huge Step Toward The Cup Series

The Cup Series opportunity may be the biggest part of the announcement.

Day has already shown he can compete at a high level in the O’Reilly Series, but Cup racing represents an entirely different challenge. Getting selected starts in 2027 would allow him to gain valuable experience without being thrown immediately into a full-time Cup schedule.

It also gives Hendrick the opportunity to evaluate Day against the best drivers in NASCAR.

The Future Is Bright

At just 20 years old, Day still has plenty of room to develop.

His progression has impressed Hendrick Motorsports, and NASCAR has already highlighted how quickly he has adapted to stock-car racing.

Now he has something even more valuable: time.

With a long-term deal and a potential Cup debut on the horizon, Corey Day appears to be firmly part of Hendrick Motorsports’ future.

The next Hendrick superstar could already be here.
