Shane Van Gisbergen Takes Truck Series Pole at Richmond

Popular

Shane van Gisbergen will lead the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series field to green at Richmond International Raceway after putting together the fastest lap in qualifying.

Van Gisbergen topped the session with a 23.168-second lap, narrowly beating Kaden Honeycutt for the pole. Honeycutt came up just 0.014 seconds short, posting a 23.182 to secure the outside of the front row.

The strong qualifying run gives van Gisbergen prime track position heading into the race at a Richmond track where managing tires and finding speed over a long run could play a major role.

Honeycutt and Smith Start Up Front

Kaden Honeycutt continued to show speed with his second-place qualifying effort, while Chandler Smith will start third after running a 23.253-second lap.

Grant Enfinger qualified fourth with a 23.359, while Nick Leitz rounded out the top five with a 23.264.

Parker Eatmon will roll off sixth, followed by former Truck Series champion Ty Majeski in seventh. Andres Perez, Stewart Friesen and Tyler Ankrum complete the top 10.
