After a historic weekend in Washington D.C., the NTT IndyCar series is taking on the Milwaukee Mile for a double-header weekend. These are the last races before the season finale at Laguna Seca, and every point matters.Â
The Milwaukee Mile is the longest-running speedway (in the country/in the world), beginning operations in 1903, with the exception of World War II. Every year since then, at least one race involving automobiles has been held. The track is located at the Wisconsin State Fair Park. The oval track is a mile long, and will feature the Indycar series this weekend.
It’s important to reiterate that this weekend is a double-header. Two races will be held, one on Saturday, Aug. 29, and Sunday, Aug. 30. With the championship on the line, these two races could help determine this year’s NTT IndyCar champion.Â
After last week’s victory at the Freedom 250, Andretti driver Kyle Kirkwood cut Alex Palou’s lead down to a 91 point gap. He took the victory while Palou wrecked out. Just behind him was Arrow McLaren driver Christian Lundgaard, who’s third in the standings, and Andretti driver Will Power, who’s 10th in the standings.
Last season, there was no double-header for Milwaukee, and Ed Carpenter Racing driver Christian Rasmussen secured his first victory. In 2024, Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward secured the first race victory, and Scott McLaughlin of Penske got the second race victory.
It’s crunch time. Every point this weekend is up for grabs. The championship fight continues and could come down to the final race. With everything at stake, drivers are preparing and looking to the Milwaukee Mile.
The green flag for Saturday’s race waves at 2:30 p.m. EST. Sunday’s race begins at 1 p.m. EST. Both races will be on FOX. They are the second and third IndyCar races in Wisconsin this year.
