Carson Kvapil is starting Saturday night’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Darlington Raceway from the best possible position.
Kvapil delivered a huge qualifying lap Saturday afternoon, capturing the pole for the race at the famed “Lady in Black.” The JR Motorsports driver recorded a 30.424-second lap at 161.636 mph, putting his No. 1 Chevrolet at the front of the field.
Kvapil Saves His Best for Last
Kvapil was the final driver to take the track during qualifying, and he made the most of his opportunity.
With the pressure on, Kvapil put together a fast and clean lap around Darlington’s 1.366-mile egg-shaped layout. His speed was enough to take the top spot away from teammate Justin Allgaier.
Starting from the pole is particularly important at Darlington, where track position can play a major role throughout the race.
Another Strong Moment for Kvapil
The pole continues what has been an impressive 2026 campaign for Kvapil.
The JR Motorsports driver has already scored two victories this season, winning back-to-back races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Iowa Speedway. NASCAR’s official driver page also notes that Kvapil reached the Championship 4 during his rookie season.
Now, Kvapil has another opportunity to add a Darlington victory to his résumé.
The 22-year-old has shown plenty of speed throughout the season, and starting first gives him a major advantage heading into Saturday night’s race.
Can He Finish the Job?
The biggest question now is whether Kvapil can turn his pole position into another trip to Victory Lane.
He’s already proven that he can win races in 2026. Darlington, however, presents a completely different challenge, with the track’s narrow racing surface and notorious tire wear making it one of NASCAR’s toughest venues.
Kvapil will have the clean air and track position to start the night.
Now, he has to make it last 200 miles.
