Kaden Honeycutt reached the biggest milestone of his racing career Friday night, winning the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship after taking the checkered flag at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The TRICON Garage driver delivered when it mattered most, winning the season finale and officially becoming a NASCAR national-series champion for the first time.

Honeycutt entered the championship race with a 20 point advantage over Layne Riggs. What was expected to be a dramatic battle between the two championship contenders quickly shifted in Honeycutt’s favor after Riggs experienced tire problems early in the event.

However, Honeycutt still had a race to win, and he made sure to finish the season in style.

Honeycutt Delivers When It Matters Most

The No. 11 Toyota driver had to work his way through a competitive field before securing the victory.

Christian Eckes provided a major challenge throughout the closing portion of the race, but Honeycutt found an opportunity late. With 15 laps remaining, Honeycutt made the decisive pass for the lead and held off the competition to secure both the race victory and the championship.

It was his fifth victory of the season and another example of how much progress he made throughout the year.

Eckes finished second, followed by Daniel Hemric, Ty Majeski and Stewart Friesen. While several drivers were battling for the race win, Honeycutt had the biggest prize waiting at the finish line.

Riggs, meanwhile, endured a difficult night. After suffering multiple tire failures, his championship hopes effectively disappeared. He eventually finished 32nd, six laps off the pace.

A Championship Season to Remember

Honeycutt’s championship represents the result of years of hard work and determination.

His journey to the top of the Truck Series was not an easy one. Before becoming a full-time driver, Honeycutt competed in part-time opportunities while also working in the racing industry as a mechanic and fabricator.

He showed plenty of potential in previous seasons, but 2026 became the year everything came together.

Driving for TRICON Garage, Honeycutt established himself as one of the series’ most consistent competitors. He finished the season with five victories, 15 top five finishes and 18 top 10 finishes, proving he had the speed and consistency necessary to compete for a championship.

The title also represents a major turnaround after finishing third in the championship standings last season.

The Beginning of Something Bigger?

At just 23 years old, Honeycutt now has a NASCAR championship to his name and plenty of opportunities ahead.

Winning a title is difficult, but defending one could be an even bigger challenge. Honeycutt will return to the Truck Series in 2027 looking to prove that this season was not a one-time achievement.

For now, he can celebrate a career-defining accomplishment. After years of working toward this opportunity, Kaden Honeycutt is officially a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion.
